UK grown solid Douglas Fir flooring is an underrated, yet premium, product.

Douglas fir is a fast growing hardy timber with primarily straight grain that lends itself to longer, wider flooring planks. If lengths of 3 metres plus are required then this species is a good choice. 

As with all our flooring, we machine on site and will ends match the boards to give a tongue and groove all round for fitting simplicity. 

Douglas fir has one of the highest strength to weight ratios of any wood species in the world. This doesn't just make it a lightweight and strong floor; it also makes it resistant to decay.

The Douglas Fir tree grows very large, very quickly. This enables long length and long width flooring to be made with ease. Full room length boards can also be requested, all the way up to 8 metres if a clean, uniform and very special finish is desired.

The lovely grain pattern and contrast between old and new growth wood brings a room alive with swirls of flame style grain and the cooler creamy tones of the newer growth.

Select grade Douglas Fir flooring is completely knot free.

Prime grade Douglas Fir flooring is allowed small numbers of small pin head solid knots up to 5mm in diameter.

Character grade Douglas Fir flooring has no limitations to knots, splits etc with the option to have knots and splits filled if desired. Fills a room with intrigue.

Douglas fir is categorised as a softwood although harder wearing than many hardwoods. It makes for a beautiful floor and is definitely worth serious consideration.
