Custom Cut Air Dried Oak Beams
UK Timber hold huge standard size air dried oak beam stocks. Air dried oak beams are traditionally used internally to minimise the movement that is inherent in large dimension timber beams.
Stock sizes will not meet all build requirements - structures fill available space and need to be sized accordingly. The calculator below enables specific sizes to be cut to customer requirements from standard dimension stock sizes.
Once your cutting list is complete, (add further rows as required) simply submit and the products will be added to your cart ready for payment at checkout, it's as simple as that.
The dropdown enables three different finishes to be chosen - sawn, planed and planed and chamfered depending on the desired aesthetic. Let UK Timber do the hard work for you!
Orders can be prepared for collection within 5 working days or for delivery on one of our specially crane enabled vehicles within 10 working days to most areas, we deliver nationwide!
PLEASE NOTE:
Our air dried oak is available in most dimensions and is perfect for all structural beam uses, any sizes unavailable from stock can be ordered from our partner mills on the continent or re-cut from larger dimension stock (this will mean different colours are present on the re-cut face and it will expose moisture variations).
Please remember that due to the lengthy natural drying process that air dried beams will have some surface checking, splits, possibly a little sap and may have a few historic bore holes - all of these characteristics make air dried oak one of the most popular ways of adding character to a new build or renovation and in no way detract from its structural qualities.

PLEASE NOTE:
As is standard in the industry, beams are mostly cross cut with a little extra length to enable trimming to size on site.
Large dimension oak beams even if air dried for decades will still experience some movement when used in a different environment. This is not problematic for properly jointed oak structures, if shrinkage occurs, the structure is pulled tighter and made stronger. Shrinkage is reduced dramatically by buying air dried material rather than green, fresh sawn oak.
